WHAT WE DO
Our purpose
Kathleen Lumley Foundation is a perpetual foundation that seeks to:
- Advance cross-disciplinary study on issues that contribute to the creation of social, cultural, economic and environmental prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Support post-doctoral researchers and post-graduate research students, for the purposes of enhancing their connection, wellbeing and academic achievement.
We do this through providing scholarships and grants to post-doctoral researchers, and students enrolled in a post-graduate degree by research, connected to one of the public universities in South Australia.

Our programs
In 2026, the Foundation will provide named, multi-year top-up scholarships to support students commencing a PhD in any field that:
- Aligns with at least three or four of the Sustainable Development Goals, and
- Has the potential to contribute to systemic change for health access and welfare outcomes.
Up to five scholarships are available in 2026. Applications are to be submitted through our partners - Flinders University and Adelaide University. Applications are open and will close on 30th January for Adelaide University applicants and 31st January for Flinders University applicants.
